Before there was an affiliation or a business, the listening room began as a personal pursuit—a space designed for one purpose: to hear music as naturally as possible. Like many enthusiasts, it evolved over time—through different components, shifting perspectives, and access to a broader range of equipment.

What began as a private endeavor gradually evolved into something more intentional.

Today, Rhapsody Out West is affiliated with Rhapsody.Audio in New York City. Bob Visintainer, proprietor of Rhapsody Audio, has spent decades traveling and carefully selecting distinctive brands from around the world. Many of these products are made in small quantities by designers and engineers singularly focused on realism and musical truth. Through that relationship, I’m able to offer access to these thoughtfully chosen components here in the Pacific Northwest.

If you’re exploring components at this level, chances are you’ve been at this for a while. You may already have a system you enjoy. Or perhaps you sense there’s still something missing — a greater sense of realism, fluidity, ease, and presence.

My role is simple: to provide the opportunity to listen. For me, it has always been about the music. If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re listening for the same thing. In this room, you can hear these components in a setting designed for exactly that purpose. Advice is available if requested, but I trust experienced listeners to recognize when something feels right.

Listening sessions are unhurried. The pace is relaxed. Evenings, in particular, have a way of extending themselves (and it’s not uncommon for a corkscrew to appear). Records often lead to another, conversation drifts between tracks, and before long the room settles into a rhythm of its own.

Guests sometimes leave talking about the system. More often they leave talking about the music.
